Birhan Tesfaw was born and raised in Lalibela. A graduate of the rigorous tourism school at Addis Ababa University, Birhan has since been a tour guide in Ethiopia for over 15 years. He has curated a style that is extremely attentive and adaptive to various tour groups, leading small groups into the mountains as well as taking large groups of travelers to the various historical sites near Lalibela. He has extensive knowledge of the historical and cultural components of Ethiopia and is fluent in English.
What Birhan would not tell you is that he is a deeply rooted and respected pillar in the community. By himself, he supports three children's orphanages in Lalibela and has spearheaded and managed the construction of a digital school in the nearby town of Shumshiha. He is experienced in coordinating with foreign donors, the local government and the community in order to better the lives of others.
